Interesting blog post today on John Green’s Sparks Fly Up website. John talks about book advances, and while most writers dream of that 7-figure advance, he states that maybe a lower advance will be more beneficial to the writer AND the publisher. Borders Pushes Children’s Books
Borders bookstore is going to focus more on children’s books in this tough economy. Good news for writers. Children’s book sections will be expanding in every Borders store over the next 90 days. Plus they plan to move the young adult and teen section further away from the baby and youth books. Personally, I’m glad that they are doing this. Pirates of the Digital Book
I was reading this article on the NY Times about book pirating. Seems like there is an increase of people posting digital books on the web for free---sort of like Napster did with MP3's. I didn't realize that this be could be an issue since books are such a different format from music.
