Best Book Ever…It’s Relative

As I was drinking my Sunday afternoon tea, I found a link to an interesting New York Times article via the A Chair, A Fireplace and A Tea Cozy blog. The NYT Op-Ed columnist gives a list of the best kids books ever. Thirteen books to get kids away from the computer and get them reading. While I was eating my lunch, I saw a post by writer friend Paula Chase Hyman over at the Brown Bookshelf blog about Twitter Book Parties. I Know a Bestselling Author!

I'm SO excited. One of my writer friends, Rachel Renee Russell, is now a New York Times Bestselling author! Her debut novel, Dork Diaries: Tales from a Not-So-Fabulous Life, was just released and in its second week, it has hit No. 8 on the NYT Chapter Books List. Ah, middle-school girl angst. YA Dystopian Hall of Fame

I’ve always loved destruction and mayhem---maybe this is because as a teen I read dystopian fiction such as The Stand and Swan Song. I do like novels that show what the future could be like---and what it would be like if it wasn’t pleasant. I guess for me, it allows me to experience these worlds without having to be in them.
