I read a lot books this year and although when one throws out a list of "best" it can all be relative. It depends on how the book resonates with the reader. YALSA Debut Finalists Annouced

In the SLJ Teen newsletter, I found out that the The William C. Morris YA Debut Award finalists have been announced. According the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) website: "The William C. Morris YA Debut Award, first awarded in 2009, honors a debut book published by a first-time author writing for teens and celebrating impressive new voices in young adult literature." During this time of year, a lot of lists come out for best books. Right before the Thanksgiving holiday, I went to the library to see if I could find some books to read while I was in Athens. It was there that I saw the popular Graceling by Kristin Cashore. Now having the opportunity to read it, I checked it out and I'm so glad that I did. I loved Katsa and her strong character.
