Okay ya’ll, my goal was to talk about the lovely writer’s retreat that I had with Heather McCorkle and Kathy McCullough last week. It was supposed to be about our format and what we focused on during critiques. Blah, blah, blah.
Ha, that post content never materialized. I’m still recovering from jet lag and the fact that I have three software releases this month — including the big kahuna FBI Sex Offender project — it all just makes me want to go take a nap. So I figured I would share some pics! :)
If you follow me on Instagram and Twitter, you saw some of the lovely goodness that is Hawaii. But here are some picture collages that I wanted to share with you.
Sigh. Sweet memories now that I’m back in the real world.

All in all, I had a great time relaxing and got of lot of traction and ideas for the novel to go into the final stretch before submission. So the best of both worlds! So definitely “Mahalo” — Thank you so much Hawaii!
The summer vacation season is starting. Where are ya’ll going this summer?

Oh my goodness, did you hear me explode with jealousy after looking at those pictures? :-)
Aw, that just means you MUST find a way to get to Hawaii very, very soon. :)
Aloha! These pictures take me back. We had such a fantastic time and I made HUGE progress on my novel, thanks to you and Kathy! Hang in there, the jet lag will pass in a few days. And mahalo to you too my friend!
I’m so glad that Kathy and I were able to help you. Can’t wait to see the end result! :) I’m currently working on your suggestion about my villain. Love this new concept. I think this will definitely make my ending stronger.
Are you sure you ladies actually worked on your novels? Seems like all you did was have fun.
Ha, ha. It was such a wonderful time. We stayed in the Napali Bay area and it was gorgeous! :)
I am jealous. How could you even write when there was so much to see and do that was non-writing related????
Believe it or not, we got TONS of work done. We met everyday around 9:30 and critiqued for about an hour and then in the afternoons we wrote on novels. Still had plenty of time for fun too. :)
Looks like so much fun! How awesome that you got a lot done too!
I actually think the beautiful surroundings helped with our creativity. Our critique sessions were so good and productive.
It’s so hard to return to real life after a wonderful vacation/ writing get-away. It looks and sounds like you enjoyed the best of everything: writing and writing pals, a gorgeous location, and fun vacation-y things, too. Fabulous.
Heather, Kathy and I had great critique chemistry and we bounced off great ideas and they were very helpful to me when it came to my novel ending (still trying to figure it out). I’ve never been to Hawaii before and it did NOT disappoint!
So. Jealous! Gorgeous pics. I’d love to go to Hawaii and a writer’s retreat there sounds amazing!
Hawaii was so beautiful. It was sad that I had to leave. :( The writing retreat was so good! The morning sessions we had were amazing. Got a lot done.
what an amazing trip – hope you got tons of work done with all that beauty around!!
Gina, it was such a great trip and I think the beautiful surroundings really made my creativity soar.
Wow – what a lovely place to write! It makes me want to plan a writing retreat! Glad to hear you had fun and got some writing done.
Andrea, it was a lovely trip. I’m sad now that I’m back home. :( But I got so many great ideas and now my revision is going really well.
Hope you get a lot of writing done during your summer break. :)
