This post is part of a series on the blog where I share some of the nuggets of wisdom and inspiration — related to writing and/or life — that I find steeped in the pages of novels that I’ve read.
This novel wisdom jumped out at me because it touches on one of the themes of my current novel project. It is a struggle for my main character. It can also be seen as lesson for life.

That is a beautiful quote. I should print it out and post it where I work because goodness knows, they of all people need desperately to read it!
What a neat idea, to pull out nuggets of inspiration from novels read. I’ll have to remember this and start a file…:-)
Wonderful! There is always a choice. Sometimes the right one is hard, but it’s still there. I touch on that theme a LOT in my manuscripts.
That is a serious lesson of life. There is always a choice! We just need to be responsible and make the right one! Thank you for sharing this nugget of wisdom Karen!
Oh, I like this one. :)
I LOVED that series. He’s my new author crush! Thanks for the nugget.
Heather: Ha, this should definitely be read in your workplace. :)
Kenda: I underline a lot of passages that move me when I’m reading. I should open up a file myself.
Lisa: Yeah, the right choice is sometimes the hardest. Ha, I always think of Dumbledore when I think of this. :)
Saba: You’re welcome! :) This particular character was a favorite of mine. He struggled himself.
Ghenet: There are some other really good ones in this book, which deals with the consequences of war. I’ll have to share some more later.
Vicky:Yes! I love Patrick Ness. This trilogy was so unique. Can’t wait to read more from this author.
