National Library Week

This week (April 11 – 17) is National Library Week.

Sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA), the week’s festivities are an “an annual celebration of the contributions of our nation’s libraries and librarians.”

I support my local library as much as possible by donating books to their YA collection. I urge all of you as well to support your libraries in your communities.

Shelli Johannes has a great post on her Market My Words blog chop full of links and a great list of why you should support your local library.

So if you know of a great book, why not buy a copy for your local library? Give it a chance to connect with a kid or teen and share your love of words.

I’ve already shared my great love of the library but I would love to hear the lasting impact libraries had made in your life as both a reader and a writer.

  1. I wouldn’t be reading without my library! Seriously.

  2. Karen says:

Laura: I have so many fond memories of the library as a kid. I literally grew up there — we went almost 5x a week.
