So bear with me as I share my geek love of all things space. But seriously, here is something fascinating about some neighbors in our solar system.
I stumbled upon a Discovery News article, Diamond Oceans Possible on Uranus, Neptune (this got my attention, LOL).
“Oceans of liquid diamond, filled with solid diamond icebergs, could be floating on Neptune and Uranus, according to a recent article in the journal Nature Physics.
The research, based on the first detailed measurements of the melting point of diamond, found diamond behaves like water during freezing and melting, with solid forms floating atop liquid forms. The surprising revelation gives scientists a new understanding about diamonds and some of the most distant planets in our solar system.”
How awesome is that? Iceberg diamonds floating upon diamond oceans!
I’m an Aries, so I have special love in my heart for diamonds.
Okay, end of my geek love of space.
Let’s get lots of writing done this weekend!
And don’t forget about Hope for Haiti telethon. Please give what you can to help out.

Oh, wow. That is very cool. I love when real science sounds like something my kids would make up while playing fairy games.
Hi Jacqui:
Yes, space can be so fascinating. It’s never boring to me. Your kids will probably think this really cool.
Wow! I absolutely love that image of diamond icebergs floating on diamond oceans! Thanks for sharing this. Happy writing!
I know right, Anna?
Somebody needs to put this image in a story. How cool would that be to be surrounded by diamonds. The characters probably would think it was normal like salt or sand or something.
Hmm…story idea blooming.
I love learning bits of knowledge like that whether it be history or science. Cool.
Laura, this is why I love reading about space and astronomy. It’s SO interesting to me.
I have a lot of geek love for all things space as well. Diamond icebergs – very, very cool :)
That’s good to know that I have a fellow space geek, Jemi!
