What YA Is Not

I was reading the wonderful blog, A Chair, A Fireplace and A Tea Cozy and found this link to an essay by Mary Pearson. She's the author of the sci-fi YA novel, The Adoration of Jenna Fox. A book that I read last year and really enjoyed. Ticking-Clock Syndrome

Last night, I started to look at my draft and the revision(s) ahead of me. I so want this novel to be done. After throwing away two different versions and hundreds of pages, I want to just be able to be done with it. But if I'm honest with myself, just like I knew those two previous versions were not working, I also know that this novel is not ready either. Somber Anniversary

I can't believe it's now been 8 years since 9/11. I still remember that day as if it were yesterday. And the effect on me has been profound.
