I’ve done it.

I’ve finished the Summer Challenge. It’s been a long three months, let me tell you. I’ve learned a lot about this particular draft.

And I made my personal best goal! Actually beat it by 123 words. Yay!

Of course, this is only the beginning. I’m going to take a break from the draft. I’m going to start revisions probably in a couple of weeks. I would love to take more time than that but I already know some trouble spots that I need to revisit and I already have some ideas.

But one thing that this challenge has taught me—drafts can get done with focus and perseverance.

Here’s my final stats of the Summer Challenge:

Total Words for Week #13: 5,137

M-638
T-1,524
W-850
TH-952
F-0
S-0
SU-1,173

Total for the Challenge: 60,123

Total Words for Challenge Goal: +14,623

Total Words for Personal Best: +123

So, the challenge is over and now I can put on my revision hat. I’ll let you know how the revision process goes. I’m sure that there will be more than one revision round. Then, when I’m at the point where I think I can actually show it to people, I’ll send it to my trusted readers and critique group. Then, it’s off to my agent.

So the journey is really just beginning!
