I was just reading this Publisher’s Weekly article, Barnes & Noble Stores to Offer Free AT&T Wi-Fi.
There is a HUGE Barnes and Noble up the street from my day job where I sometimes write. One of the benefits of it was that there wasn’t any free wi-fi, and I didn’t spend my time surfing the web (I tend to do that at the library too).
B&N also plans to offer access to its new e-book store where customers can also preview the e-books. This is interesting since just recently author John Green mentioned in a blog post that brick and mortar bookstores may be a vanishing concept in the next ten years.
There are also perks to the free wi-fi:
“Customers will be able to opt in to receive personalized messages from B&N—including coupons to the in-store café, notices on author signings, or details on new releases in their favorite genres—on their Wi-Fi enabled devices when they enter the store. They can also download free B&N apps.”
Ah, so much for me being able to do actual writing—this is a procrastinator’s dream (or nightmare). My dining room table is really starting to look good again.
I post about the craft and how I balance writing with a day job. Other topics include books, authors, conferences, and diversity related to literature for kids and teens.
