For some reason, I have been dreaming about tornadoes. Seriously, a LOT of them. I’m always in this high-rise building working and then I see tornadoes forming and people getting sucked up by them (why are these people on the roof anyway?).
So I figured maybe it means something. Since Google is my friend, I looked it up. Here’s what one of the dream interpretations said:
“Being overwhelmed by work or circumstances. You are stressed out. If you are overtaken: Things are out of control in your life. If you escape from or avoid it: You are stressed but can handle the situation.”
In my recurring tornado dream, I always get away and end up safe, so I guess that means that I can handle the situation.
The truth is that the day job is really BUSY right now and with the Summer Challenge, it’s probably a true statement that I’m stressed out.
But I read something recently that struck a chord. Going against the current sometimes just wears you out and you end up drowning. Best thing to do is go with the current and more than likely you’ll find shore and safety.
I used this strategy last night. I’ve put a lot of weight on my shoulders so I just shrugged it off and went with the flow. I wrote almost 1200 words.
Writing a novel is never easy, but it should never be torture.
I think the way to handle my current state of being overwhelmed is just to go with the flow and see where the current leads me.
