Week #7 is done. Yay.
So I’ve started not to be so hard on myself about the writing—not that I’m giving up—but if I don’t write my 500 words than I’m not bringing out the sugarberry switch either.
My progress wasn’t horrible, but it could have been better. Plus, I’m still up about 3K for the challenge goal. I’m just going to take it on a day by day basis. It’s hard when you see other writers coming out with books left and right. My agent is really being patient with me, which I totally appreciate. So, I can’t put myself in competition with anyone else.
My goal is to write the best story that I can. If it takes longer than expected, then that’s okay. As long as I’m making an effort. I have faith my novel will be finished in 2009.
Here’s how it was for Week 7:
Total for the Week: 2993
M-834
T-794
W-458
TH-0
F-637
S-0
SU-270
Total for the Challenge: 27,583
Words to Challenge goal: 17,917
Here’s the quote for Week #8, it’s another one from A Writer’s Space: Make Room to Dream, to Work, to Write by Eric Maisel.
“There is always the risk that you may disappoint yourself. That risk is there even for productive writers, as most writers don’t write as often as they would like. Because of this reality, you will need to practice self-forgiveness.”
Many battles are won and lost during the novel journey. What matters is the end result. As I go into Week #8 of the Challenge, I’ll try to practice self-forgiveness on stumbles and relish the breakthroughs.
Off to my work on my novel…
I post about the craft and how I balance writing with a day job. Other topics include books, authors, conferences, and diversity related to literature for kids and teens.
