Twitter Birthday Book Bash!

While I was eating my lunch, I saw a post by writer friend Paula Chase Hyman over at the Brown Bookshelf blog about Twitter Book Parties.

I’m not on Twitter, but things like this just make me want to join if for nothing else to just follow what’s going on. Peer pressure—all the other kids are doing it! Okay, focus. Summer Challenge, remember?

Anyway, it’s the brain child of author Mitali Perkins where she helps authors host twitter birthday parties on their book release day. The birthday parties are designed to showcase the books and build awareness.

Like Paula, I think this is adorable. Plus I LOVE birthday parties!

Even if you don’t have a Twitter account (like me, boo!), you can check out the Twitter Book Parties blog and see which book is having a birthday coming up.

Like for instance, Sacred Scars by Kathleen Duey is having a book birthday on 8/1/2009.

Plus, if you have an upcoming release, there are still spaces available to reserve a birthday party for your book.

My fingers are itching to open a Twitter account, but I must be strong, LOL. I have an addictive personality, and I can just see myself using Twitter as a procrastination tactic. Maybe that can be a gift to myself when I finish the Summer Challenge.
