I completed Week #4 of the Challenge. Nine more weeks to go. This is going to be a LONG summer.

So I did a little better than I did last week. What helped me was turning off the TV and getting most of my writing done outside of the house. One of my goals this year was to try and write in my house—still working on that. Maybe I should turn off my cable? Yeah, right.

This week I noticed I did a lot of revising which I shouldn’t do right now. Hence the low numbers on Tuesday and Wednesday. While I did figure some things out, I spent too much time trying to get things “perfect.” Not good. I just need to get words down on the page at this point. Revision comes after the Challenge.

Here’s the details for Week #4:

Total for Week #4: 4835

M-1459; T-0; W-201; TH-455; F-530; SAT-943; SU-1247

Total for the Challenge: 17,393

Here’s the inspirational quote for Week #5. It comes from The Writer’s Portable Therapist: 25 Sessions to a Creativity Cure by Rachel Ballon, Ph.D.

“Perfectionism is the belief that what you write is never good enough. It is another form of being blocked. Perfectionists are afraid of risks, and if you don’t learn to take risk in your writing, you won’t grow as a writer.”

Amen, Dr. Ballon.

The Challenge will be interesting since a big holiday is coming up this weekend. I’m going to budget my time wisely so I can celebrate without any guilt.

Off to write…
