Anyone who watched the MTV Movie Awards knows the effect of the Twilight movie. Now with the new New Moon trailer out and its pending release this year, the Twilight Saga surges on.
Stephenie Meyer is now a household name. And with JK Rowling chilling low-key in her castle, Meyer is now the “IT” writer.
And of course this comes with some criticism. You don’t have to look far to find people who bash Meyer’s writing. Yeah, okay it’s not Chekhov—I’ll agree, but you have to give it to Meyer, she has caught the attention of 29 million readers. Oh, and that was just LAST year.
She’s also made it to the #26 spot on The Forbes 2009 Celebrity 100 List. She’s the highest ranking author, edging out James Patterson, Stephen King, and President Barack Obama.
So Stephenie is counting the $50 million dollars she earned last year—waving at the critics and grinning.
I’m quite sure any hateration at this point is amusing.
