Multiple Personalities

I first took the Myers-Briggs personality test during college when I was a Resident Assistant.

I loved taking these types of tests and found it very interesting. According to Myers-Briggs, I’m an ENFJ —which I think is a right assessment of me.

As I started writing after college, I stumbled back on the Myers-Brigg personality types and found that they can also be useful for creating characters. Maybe because I’m an interesting mix of geeky logic and creative gypsy. But seriously, using personality types have helped me with character building.

For instance in my current novel, my main character Grace is an ISFJ and her best friend Megan is an ENFP. Just knowing the base personalities helped me figure out their relationship and how they would react to different situations.

Great online resources are the Personality Page and Type Logic.

Both have lots of cool information on personality types. Using this research could be a great foundation for creating characters.
